Character

Character of the Australian Cobberdog
The Australian Cobberdog is more than just a beautiful face and a hypoallergenic coat – it is a dog with an exceptionally social and stable character. Cobberdogs are known for their emotional sensitivity and ability to perfectly adapt to their owners' moods. This makes them the ideal companion for families, people with special needs, or as therapy dogs.

They are gentle, intelligent, and eager to learn, with a natural curiosity that allows them to quickly pick up new skills. Thanks to their low reactivity and calm nature, they can thrive in various environments, from busy households to care facilities. Cobberdogs are naturally very trainable, which means they can easily pick up commands both at home and in therapy settings, adapting well to daily routines.

Mental stimulation is important
Although the Cobberdog is naturally a calm and quiet dog, it also requires mental challenges to remain happy and healthy. These dogs are intelligent and curious, meaning they need to be actively engaged. Training, both mentally and physically, is essential for their well-being. Without enough mental stimulation, they can become bored, which may lead to undesirable behaviors. This makes it important for Cobberdog owners to regularly train them and provide challenging tasks, such as scent games or obedience classes.

The Australian Cobberdog as therapy dog
At DoubleStreet, we carefully select our dogs. We choose only parent dogs that meet the highest breed standards set by the MDBA, with a focus on health, character, and social intelligence. Only dogs with a stable and calm temperament are considered for our breeding program. This is essential for producing dogs that are perfectly suited for the role of therapy dogs.

The Cobberdog is not only emotionally intelligent but also has a hypoallergenic coat, making it an excellent choice for people with allergies or respiratory issues. Thanks to these traits, the Cobberdog can function optimally as a service and therapy dog for individuals suffering from autism, anxiety disorders, depression, PTSD, learning disabilities, dementia, or physical limitations.

Careful selection at DoubleStreet
At DoubleStreet, we don’t just breed dogs; we follow a strict selection process, choosing only dogs that meet the MDBA breed standard. Our focus is not only on physical appearance but, more importantly, on the character – the emotional stability and health of the dog. This makes our Cobberdogs not only excellent family pets but also reliable and loving therapy dogs, capable of enriching the lives of their owners.

Our puppies grow up in a nurturing, stimulating environment and are socialized from a young age. This ensures they can easily adapt to various situations and are ready for a meaningful role in the lives of their future owners.
